Audi Hungaria Motor today announced it has produced the 25 millionth engine. The production milestone comes 20 years from the start of engine production in Gyor, the sixth largest city in the country.
The specific unit that marks the milestone is a 2.0-liter TFSI turbocharged four cylinder rated at 272 PS and installed in an Imola-yellow Audi TTS Coupe Competition, a special edition model that celebrates 500,000 TTs being built.
“The 25-millionth engine underscores the longstanding success story of engine production at Audi Hungaria. Nearly all engines in Audi models come from GyQr,” pointed out Dr. Frank Dreves, Board of Management Member for Production at AUDI AG. “Audi Hungaria therefore has a special strategic importance within the Audi Group. The company makes a major contribution to our growth strategy.”
The TT is also made in hungary, as is the A3 Sedan as of a couple of months ago. Audi has officially announced that the next generation TT Coupe and Roadster will come from Hungary as well
