Audi has confirmed that an e-tron version of the Q7 SUV will be introduced before the next-generation model arrives sometime in 2015.
The information was disclosed by Audi Australia managing director Andrew Doyle, at the launch of a local advertising campaign. Doyle said the Q7 e-tron will follow the A3 e-tron and that the SUV will make its debut before the next-generation model goes on sale.
At the same time, he reconfirmed that the German company won't release an e-tron version of the R8 supercar. "I don't see it as a major thing for us. We'll launch with A3, followed by Q7...”
While the A3 e-tron was unveiled with a 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine and a 75 kW electric motor combo with a combined output of 204 HP, the Q7 e-tron should receive a more powerful drivetrain. No details have been revealed, but our guess is that the SUV will share Porsche Panamera's 3.0-liter V6 gasoline and electric motor configuration.
