Audi A7 Teaser Site Launched [Updated]

Audi is preparing to give birth to a car that will take advantage of the premium (niche) saloon market’s growing potential, fighting against cars like Mercedes’ CLS or Porsche’s Panamera. We are talking about the A7, a vehicle that was expected to hit the market next year.

Now, Audi is using a little marketing trick for the upcoming car, teasing the A7 (it isn’t clear if the official name of the vehicle will also include the “Sportback” designation) though a special website.

Audi’s Dutch division has launched the A7 teaser site that literally brings the upcoming car to the eyes of potential customers. Unfortunately, it doesn’t manage to bring any new info for the car, only telling us that it will draw inspiration from the Sportback concept, which was introduced last year.

The A7 will be an important vehicle for Audi, with the car also destined for the U.S. market. The vehicle will come with a set of cool styling features, such as a low roofline and frameless door windows. The car will be underpinned by Audi’s longitudinal built kit (LBK), which is also the platform used for the new A8. The vehicle will also receive an RS version, which will come with a power output playing in the 500 to 600 hp league.

As we’ve said, the Panamera will compete against the Mercedes Benz CLS (which will receive a new generation in 2011) and the Porsche Panamera, but also Aston Martin’s Rapide and a future BMW vehicle based on the Grand Coupe Concept that was shown in April at the Beijing Auto Show.

Update: The Audi A7 will be available for sale starting from November this year.
