As Aston Martin is working to complete the development of the DB9 successor, the British carmaker is updating various technical details, but still won’t shed any of the heavy camo covering the prototypes. Nevertheless, we know the British carmaker is preparing to hide a German technology infusion under its mesmerizing styling cues.
As we explained last month, we can confirm the grand tourer, which has been tentatively named DB11, will accommodate a Mercedes-Benz twin-turbo V12 engine under its long hood.

At the moment, we’re not sure about the exact output of the mill. As you know, Mercedes-Benz offers more than one six-liter vee twelve. It all starts with the engine on the 600 models , which produces 530 hp, which is followed by the 630 HP heart of the 65 AMG models.

Of course, since Daimler now owns 10 5 percent of the Aston Martin stake, they could do the Brits a favor and deliver a bespoke unit, as is the case with the twin-turbo 6-liter V12 on the Pagani Huayra.

Regardless, the rumor mill also sees the DB11 fitted with a second engine choice, albeit an entry-level one, if we may call it that way. We’re talking about Affalterbach’s 4-liter twin-turbo V8, the one that has already spread from the Mercedes-AMG GT to the AMG C63 and the 2016 G500.

Aston Martin is expected to offer us a replacement for the DB9 in 2016, as a 2017 model. And as you are reading this, the British brand is busy designing a plan to bring out their first-ever crossover, the DBX. This all means the new engines will spread far past the borders of the GT segment.
