“Get to the Choppa!” is what Arnold Schwarzenegger would tell Volkswagen’s bosses if he were to meet them now. Believe it or not, the former Governor of California has just made his public stance on the German company’s cheat on emission tests. It turns out he had problems with the automaker too, back in the day.
The post Arnold Schwarzenegger just made talks by itself so we’ll start with it:

I’m mad as hell right along with my old, great photographer John Decker. I remember when we passed our tailpipe emissions in California, Volkswagen was right there to sue us. Later, when they asked for a meeting, and I asked them why they weren’t making electric cars, they told me about their clean diesel, and I said, ‘If it’s so clean, drink it in front of me.’ They obviously didn’t. I hope the car manufacturers hear the message loud and clear. Consumers want cleaner cars and won’t stand for less.”

Hey, we all know the VW scandal is huge, and it will change the rules of the game from the ground up. Heck, if you were to ask this editor, I’d say the plug-in hybrid and EV market will explode after they bury the hatchet, both in the US and later in the entire world. But this is just a speculation, while Schwarzenegger’s bad experience with the Germans was not.

Why does one of the most famous actors in the world care about air pollution? Well, if you’re asking this question you must not be acquainted with the Terminator star’s political and environmentalist career. It all dates back on September 27, 2006 when he signed a bill creating the nation’s first cap on greenhouse gas emissions. The last set new regulations on the amount of emissions utilities, refineries, and manufacturing plants are allowed to release into the atmosphere.

The Hollywood star also signed a global warming bill that prohibits large utilities and corporations in California from making long-term contracts with suppliers who do not meet the state’s greenhouse gas emission standards. Many battles with polluters have followed, with some of his projects being an ongoing action for a cleaner state.

Fun factor: As you can observe in the picture above, Arnold Schwarzenegger owns a Bugatti Veyron. Yes, that VW-owned Bugatti. And yes, Bugatti is a hypercar that eats petrol like you drink water.
