Argentina's New MotoGP Circuit Closer to FIM Approval
The facility is under construction, but the new track is almost ready for testing and has received positive reactions from a group of MotoGP and FIM officials who recently visited the complex.
Franco Uncini (FIM Grand Prix Safety Officer and 500 World Champion of 1982), Javier Alonso (Managing Director of Events Area, Dorna Sports), Arturo Scalise (President of CAMOD, the Argentinian Motorcycling Federation) and Orlando Terranova (CEO of Grupo OSD that organises the Argentinian GP) inspected the track during two intense days and were pleased with the results.
Uncini told MotoGP.com: “The track is beautiful and the safety standards are very high. Overall I can say that we are very pleased and impressed by the quality of the work that has been done, but right now we are not willing to fully approve the circuit as a few minor modifications will soon be taking place.”
A test will be held during the first week of July at Termas de Rio Hondo, to further verify that the track complies with all the safety standards. We still don't have the data on the new track, but the huge straight line looks like tons of high-speed fun.
