We love discovering weird tuning projects that nobody has seen before. Customizing cars should be about being different, not about having the same thing as Kaye West. Today, it’s the G-Wagon again, which is not only one of our favorites but also a darling of the whole industry.
The company is called Ares Performance, after the Greek god of war and is based in Modena, Italy with showrooms around the world. Not only have we never written about them before, but Google doesn’t index other stories about them yet.
Right, back to the G-Wagon, which, in this case, appears to be a G63 AMG, since it has the V8 biturbo badge on the side. The most striking feature is the new headlight design, which features a bright ring of LED, which is as angelic as a… BMW.
But do you notice anything else about the front end of the SUV? Yes, it has that rounded, sporty shape that most normal Mercedes-AMG models have, and the Brick-Wagon lacks. To do that, they had to change the grille and add curves to the front bumper and headlight surrounds.
The profile of the car features typical G-Wagon fender flares and side skirts. However, this is the first time we’ve seen a side exhaust with a surround like it would be on an S63. Ares have also made the interior look less truck-like by raising the dash and adding elegant curves. Brown leather is used in combination with faux-carbon and white stitching ties everything together.
Between the redesigned indicator lights at the front and the square steering wheel, we could talk about the Ares G-Wagon for days.
Optional goodies include an ECU update that bring 680 horsepower, a titanium sports exhaust, adjustable height suspension and wheels with carbon fiber trim.
