Arcimoto's eighth generation SRK three-wheeler seems to be one of the most alluring urban commuting solutions for two, especially as it comes with a neat price and room for two and their luggage.

Having the passenger travel on a seat behind the rider is nothing new, and neither is having the seats protected by an ROPS structure. But these solutions proved to be very handy when it comes to small-footprint personal transport, and this is why the Arcimoto SRK is such an interesting vehicle.

Technically, Arcimoto does not bring any breakthroughs in the niche, but it refines the design language and space optimization, and thus adds a most welcome change to this segment. Arcimoto has no less than 16 attributes and its makers say that the current version is the one that offers the best balance of features.

Arcimoto's feature list includes the following: affordability, reasonable footprint, fun factor, freeway capability, "rockstar parking," low range anxiety, low maintenance and fuel cost, front wheel drive, dual motors and regenerative brakes, two-up capability, easy egress, the possibility of adding an enclosure, rollover and crumple protection, sex appeal, a delivery capable platform, and capital efficiency.

230 MPGe efficiency and up to 130-mile range

Arcimoto SRK boasts a quarter of the weight of a sedan, tipping the scales at 1,023 pounds (463 kg), and comes with half the width for enhanced agility in busy traffic. The dual front wheel motors hurl it from 0 to 60 mph (-100 km/h) in 7.5 seconds, and can reach a top speed of 85 mph (137 km/h).

The battery pack is intelligently located in the base of the vehicle, and the rider and passenger seats are mounted above it, optimizing the ergonomics. Thanks to regenerative brakes, the SRK brags about a 250 mpge (1.1 l/100 km equivalent) economy.

The SRK in base trim comes with an 18650 Li-Ion battery that can store 12kWh, with 20 kWh extended range versions available. The standard version offers a 70-mile (112 km) range, while the extended battery pack has enough energy for 130 mile (209 km) rides.

Prices start at $11,900 (€10,900), and Arcimoto adds that the SRK will save riders around $10,000 (€9,170) in the first four years. Doors, hardtops, a windshield, and delivery compartmentation are on the option list, extending the functionality of the SRK.
