Oberdan Bezzi brings forth a new concept, an Aprilia 750 Pegaso dubbed V2, and which could very well become a bestseller for the Italian manufacturer.
I am definitely not the only rider who would like to see the middleweight dual-sport/ crossover restored to the glory it once enjoyed. And that is because the bike sin this class have an unique recipe which makes them perfect, no matter where you live. For commuting, city errands, shopping, leisure rides and vacations, these bikes are one of the premium choices.
They are sporty enough to be thrilling to ride, yet come with usable power and torque, being easy to handle by most riders. At the same time, a bike such as the 750 Pegaso V2 would be noticeably lighter than any other 1200cc-class beast pretty much any manufacturer is shelving nowadays, and this makes it more trail-worthy.
With generous suspensions, ground clearance would not be a problem, optional while aluminium skidplates would provide peace of mind for off-road fans. The old Pegaso was a thumper, but Oberdan Bezzi imagined the 750cc V2 as a twin machine derived from the existing Shiver, so vibration was also taken care of for long hauls.
Rider protection is yet another important factor for this bike category, and the half fairing and front cowl provide decent shielding. A taller, touring screen would of course be the next logical step on the list of optional accessories. Needless to say, that a generous ACG would provide power to electrical add-ons, while complementary luggage systems would transform it in a nifty tourer.
lly, it’s also about the price tag. Most 1200cc-class bikes are really expensive, as they come with all the bells and whistles many riders don’t actually need or want. As opposed to them, a bike like the Aprilia Pegaso V2 would slot in at a much more affordable price, making it even more alluring. Not sure at all whether Aprilia plans to build such a crossover, but we certainly do hope Yamaha does. Stay tuned.
