It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of World Supersport rider Andrea Antonelli.
Antonelli, 25, was involved in a high-speed crash on the straight line between Turn 14 and Turn 15 of the Moscow Raceway in Russia. The Team Goeleven Kawasaki rider has sustained critical injuries and was immediately carried to an ambulance.
Despite prolonged efforts made by the medical staff, Andrea Antonelli was pronounced dead about 40 minutes from his unfortunate accident. The race was flagged and FIM, Dorna and YMS Promotion decided to cancel all activities scheduled for the rest of the day.
A minute of silence was kept in his memory before the start of the MotoGP race at Laguna Seca. We extend our deepest condolences to Andrea's family, friends, and fans.
