Alonso Voted the Best Active F1 Driver by Fellow Racers

Fernando Alonso may be a bit on the outside for this year's title fight in Formula One, but his fellow drivers are ranking him at the top of their list for the “Best Active F1 Driver.” According to an anonymous questionnaire conducted by German newspaper Bild am Sonntag within the 24 current drivers in F1, the Spaniard was voted as the best driver currently in action in the series.

Alonso has won the F1 title two times in his career and began his stay at Ferrari with a victory in the season opening round of 2010, the Bahrain GP. He is currently placed 5th in the classification, after the 4 drivers from McLaren Mercedes and Red Bull and 47 points behind leader Lewis Hamilton.

Speaking of the McLaren driver, the 2008 F1 champion was voted off the most aggressive driver in Formula One, while also tipped to battle RBR's Sebastian Vettel for the world title this season. Apparently, few people give Mark Webber and reigning champion Jenson Button too many chances for a title fight in 2010, despite the fact that the former is the winningest racer in F1 so far this season.

Another poll within the current F1 roster referred to the best driver of all time, which the majority voted for Ayrton Senna. Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, who has made his return to the series this year, was voted off the second best driver in the history of the sport. Additionally, the Monaco Grand Prix was voted off the most dangerous circuit in the series.

In the poll “most beautiful woman” in the F1 paddock, everybody agreed that French reporter Marion Jolles would have to take the No 1 spot. However, there was one interesting vote given to... Mercedes GP's driver Nico Rosberg, whom his former mechanics at Williams code-name “Britney” (Spears).
