Conducted by well-known Italian journalist Alberto Mattioli, the interview focused on Alonso's likes and dislikes, superstitions, attitude towards fellow F1 racers, friends in the paddock and dreams for the future. After being quite frank about his attitude towards religion – he admitted not believing in God – Alonso revealed his superstitious number in motor racing.
“I’m playing with numbers. Well, like the number of the helmet as the hotel’s room number, divided by the cars on the starting grid. It’s important that the result is 14. Because with the number 14 I won my first kart World Championship,” admitted Alonso.
Asked to give a one-word definition for a number of characters in racing and outside of it, Alonso referred to his teammate as being “fast” and his former F1 rival Michael Schumacher as being “worker.” Additionally, he insisted that he thinks very high of the 41-year old German, but he prefers to look at the future rather than relive his former rivalry with the Mercedes driver in F1.
“He’s a great champ. He left Ferrari before I arrived. And let me say it again, I like to talk about the future,” added Alonso, who also promised his fans that he'll give it his all to become world champion in an all-red overall.
“I can’t guarantee any results. We know that I’ll always give it everything. There won’t be a day when I’m not thinking of the team. Promised!” added Alonso.
