The new MQB-based Volkswagen Golf, the seventh generation of the hatchback which is loved by millions of people around the world. Why? Well, the Golf has always been an excellent all-round package which was very capable at everything it did.
Now, the official unveiling of the seventh generation of the car is a few weeks away, so VW have decided to get the hype ball rolling, and they have released a very short teaser. Now, after watching the teaser a few times, it is quite clear that VW is looking to break free of the ‘run of the mill’ mold to which all cars since the MK3 have stuck to.
They will be packing the new Golf with all sorts of technological gizmos, to try and recover some ground on its extremely talented competitors. Another additional piece of good news is the fact that the new Golf will be some 100 kilos (220 lbs) lighter than the outgoing model, despite being slightly larger and roomier.
The car will be revealed during a special event which will be held in Berlin, on September 4th. We also hope it will get some imaginative design touches, because all recent Golfs, and VWs in general, have become extremely boring to look at.
