Why would you buy the new Audi Q7 instead of the equivalent BMW X5 and Mercedes GLE? They all cost about the same, are the same size and seat you in the lap of luxury. As usual, the devil is in the details, as the 2016 Q7 comes with impressive features inside that you don't see on rival models.
For example, Audi has launched its own brand of tablet. Yes, you can take it out of the car and leave it on the table while at a restaurant or cafe, so everyone will know that you own an expensive Audi. A four-ringed smart device, how cool is that?

It's also connected to the in-car infotainment system and can be used to access navigation or climate control. Audi says the tablets are safe in the event of a crash and will withstand high temperatures. Best of all, the Q7 is an LTE hotspot, so browsing the internet at high speed is possible.

Another interesting system developed for the Q7 is the touchpad controller at the driver's fingertips. Like on other Audi models, it allows you to draw symbols instead of having to select them, so it's faster and safer to use. What's different is that the surface offered is separate from the knob, so it's been made larger.

The rest of the SUV has been designed with the same attention to detail. Think of the 373 PS Q7 e-tron version or the 12.3" TFT instrument binnacle. At just under 2 tons, the Q7 is also the lightest model in its class, after having shed 325 kg (716 lbs) through ample use of aluminum technology.
