If the brand new Opel Corsa supermini revealed yesterday left you wanting more, look no further than the Corsa OPC, coming out next year.
Based on yesterday's press photos, this rendering made by X-Tomi Design has emerged online. It shows an evolutionary design made up of familiar OPC trademarks combined with new headlights that have a boomerang shape and an aggressively styled upper grille.

There really is no way of knowing exactly what the new Corsa OPC will look like until 2015, when it comes out. But we can tell you what powers it: a new 1.6-liter turbocharged engine lined to a six-speed manual.

The old Corsa OPC was among the first hot hatchlings to adopt a small 1.6-liter turbo engine, making it a car ahead of its time. Reviewers slammed it for the non-responsive throttle, compared to the 2-liter engine in the Clio RS 197 of that era. However, a lot has changed since it came out and now all cars in the segment are turbocharged.

Opel Performance Center is planning a new 1.6 with twin-scroll turbo and direct injection. It will have at least 200 horsepower and high levels of torque, taking down the first 100 km/h in only 6.8 seconds on its way to 220 km/h.

While Renaultsport has gone for a twin-clutch arrangement, za Germans are sticking to what they know best: a slick stick shifter for keen drivers. With an updated VW Polo GTI coming out in 2015 as well, we're in for the hot hatchling fight of the century.
