After the Genesis luxury sedan, there's another new Korean car that adopts a cool new design language. We're talking about the 2015 Sonata midsize sedan, making its debut the the New York Auto Show.
Now, we've seen the new Sonata on the web already because it was first shown in Korea, but this US model is every-so-slightly different in trim and is presented to us in person. For an average midsize, the shape of the car is very sporty and cool. Hyundai gave it a sloping roof and a really short boot lid, so it's almost like a four-door coupe. We've seen big chrome grilles before, but the new Sonata has big side air intakes and a quad-branched exhaust system on this 2.0T Sport model.

The same 2.4-liter base engine and the turbo carry over from the old model to this one, but both receive slight power downgrades. Yes, you heard us right,
downgrades, made for the sake of better economy. The 2.4L drops only a little to 185 horsepower in US spec, while the turbo 245 horsepower. Both come mated to a six-speed automatic moving the front wheels.

As we've mentioned, there's a new Sport trim level that we really like, but is only available with the more powerful turbo. It gives you stiffer suspension, a body kit and seats with red accent stitching. Sport models also get a very nice flat-bottomed leather steering wheel with paddle behind it.

Even if you don't get the Sport pack, the all-new Sonata has a very nice interior with large, clearly labeled buttons for everything. It's like the Korean version of a Lexus, but cheaper. Tired of the touchscreen-everthing trend Ford, Chrysler, Honda and GM are following? This might be the midsize for you.
