All-New 2014 Subaru Forester Photographed in the Open

Subaru’s mighty forester first saw the light of production in 1997. On December 25th, 2007, they introduced the third generation, which dropped the wagon body in favor of the crossover looks that dominated the 4x4 segment.

Now, a fourth generation model is getting ready for launch, and it’s been caught out in the open in its domestic market of Japan, where it will go on sale next month. In Europe and the US, the all-new Forester will only become available with the 2014 model year, to be launched in the first half of 2013.

So if crossover looks were on the menu last time, what will Subaru sere up next year? To put is simply: a bigger car. The ew Forester is 35 mm longer (4,595 mm long), 15 mm taller (1,795 mm tall) and 20 mm wider (1,695 mm wide).
The base Forester will have a aspirated DOHC 2.0-liter boxer engine with 148 PS (146 HP). The turbo version of the same unit will make 280 PS (276 HP), the same one that will go into the Impreza STi. Europe will also offer a 150 hp diesel and America will continue with the 2.5-liter flat-4 with 173 hp.
