Alfa Romeo Winding Down 159 Production

The Alfa Romeo 159 is one our personal favorites when it comes to cars from that era. We don’t want to sound stereotypical, but this four-door has all the style and presence of current four-door coupes without ever trying. Thus, it pains us to hear that an automotive legend is going away, probably to be replaced by the Giulia in a couple of years.
According to Italia Speed, Fiat Group is gradually phasing out the now venerable model from production, as reports indicate work on the 159 has stopped in Naples, Italy. The move was expected by dealers so many have created stockpiles in advance. This is probably the best time to get a killer deal on a modern classic.

It’s got bad fuel consumption, some bits might fall off inside, but this is still the only car you can have if you don’t want a BMW 3-Series and care about your image. Which brings us to one very important subject: Fiat really has nothing to fill the gap in coming years, as neither the Alfa Giulietta, Lancia Delta nor the Fiat Bravo have what it takes in the executive world.

Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne has repeatedly delayed the Giulia sedan, making changes to its design that would better suit the needs of American consumers. This will only hit the market in 2013 at the latest, but until then the Naples plant will get busy with production of the new Fiat Panda.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
