Although the vehicle’s design has yet to be revealed, the new Spider’s styling is almost ready, with company sources claiming it will be modern and in accordance with Alfa Romeo’s current design language..
“The new Spider definitely won’t be retro in design. The Spider has to be contemporary and must fit into the range with the modern 4C,” said a source. “It would have been easy to go for a retro, boat-tail design, but how would that fit in with the 4C and today’s Alfa designs?” another source added.
Based on the next-generation Mazda MX-5, the 2015 Alfa Romeo Spider will be built in Japan and launched with a version of the company’s turbocharged 1.4 TB MultiAir engine that will send 170 HP to the wheels.

why would anyone with a sound mind want the spider to look like its current Alfa designs? I usually dislike the policies of having a family look in all models (I call it the Audi trend) but in the case of the present day Alfa is almost criminal to have a new Spider have to follow that (specially renegating that recent prototype)... Once I let go of my aging Spider I won't look out for an Alfa no more
