Alfa Romeo Goes to the US via Chrysler Dealers

The closer the return of the Italian brand Fiat gets, the more anticipation levels it rises among US consumers. But, apart from Fiat models and perhaps even more exciting, vehicles branded Alfa Romeo will be hitting the States as well no later than 2012, according to the latest info available.

According to Autonews, citing Chrysler-Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne, the sale of the Alfa Romeo brand will be handled pretty much by the same dealers who will sell Fiat. At least 200 out of the 600 Chrysler dealers invited to sell Fiat in the US will likely sell Alfas too.

It's more than likely that Fiat and Alfa Romeo brands will be sold in the same dealerships," Marchionne said at a press event last week.

The Fiat plan for the US is simple and has already been outlined several times. The Italian invasion will begin later this year with the Fiat 500, with all body versions of the car to be added to the offering over the following two years.

As far as Alfa Romeo is concerned, the model lineup has been pretty much drafted, even if it is not completely clear at this point. The Giulia will be the first to arrive States side in 2012, followed by a subcompact, a hatchback, a roadster and in the end a mid-sized SUV.

Although unlikely (Marchionne said there will be no Alfa talk at the meeting), more about the Italian return might be revealed on August 30 at the special gathering of Chrysler dealers. 600 of them are expected to attend.
