The automotive marketing has given birth to a new development we never thought we’d see: Alfa Romeo now has its dedicated catwalk dress. PPQ’s designers created the Alfa Romeo dress for the PPQ London Fashion Week Show, which took place on Friday, February 19.
The design of the dress uses the Italian brand’s timeless sporty styling cues, also borrowing its Cloverleaf symbol. The design was inspired by the Alfa MiTo Cloverleaf, which uses the historic green four-leaf symbol offered to high performance Alfa Romeos.
“The driving dress is an empowering number; with the PPQ theme of Jacobean decoration and the almost ecclesiastical Cloverleaf design, so iconic with Alfa Romeo, incorporated into the high-rise arm silhouette,” said PPQ Design Director Amy Molyneaux. “Alfa Romeo's history of style and elegance within driving is a perfect reflection of the women that wear our clothes.”
The dress was attended by singers Paloma Faith Corinne Bailey-Rae, and TV presenter Caroline Flack, who were chauffeured to the show in Alfa Romeo Giulietta models. The designers will now make the dress as a bespoke service.
“The idea of a dress inspired by Alfa Romeo featuring on a high end fashion catwalk was exciting, and a unique opportunity we were happy to explore,” Head of Brand for Alfa Romeo UK, Damien Dally, said.
“The understated inclusion of the iconic Alfa Romeo Cloverleaf symbol in the jewel like decorations on the black dress looks great, and perfectly encapsulates our heritage as a brand that’s both stylish and sophisticated.”
