Akrapovic Offers a Glimpse into their R&D Process for the new M4 Exhaust

Who do you consider to be the best aftermarket exhaust manufacturer in the world for BMWs? There’s Meisterschaft, Eisenmann, Armytrix and a lot more but we reckon there’s one manufacturer that is simply one step above. Their products and expertise are even used in production cars such as Alpinas and they hail from Slovenia.

We’re talking about Akrapovic, of course, the official partner of BMW in a number of venues and the ones that recently invited their audience to see how an exhaust is made. Fortunately for us, it was the F82 M4.

That’s because a couple of people claimed that the sound of the new M3 and M4 models is not on par with their predecessors. Sure, it’s hard to compare a naturally aspirated engine with an inline 6-cylinder turbocharged unit in the sound department but that’s something everyone seems to forget about.

Therefore, an aftermarket exhaust for these cars will be mandatory in some people’s opinions. Akrapovic might just have the best solution for you if you’re one of them.

Their systems are usually made of titanium and offer drastic horsepower and torque increases over the stock versions. Furthermore, they also offer a sharper pedal response and, before we forget, a better soundtrack.

As you’re about to see, their research is vital for the success of the products. Every little detail has to be accounted for and they are even testing the cars at night, to make sure no exhaust note is missed on or left out.

The Evolution system is ready, according to Matej Bulc, Automotive Exhaust Development Department Manager but they didn’t arrive in shops just yet. Stay tuned though because as soon as they do, we’ll post an update!
