Adrian Sutil Hopes to Keep Force India Seat in 2011
As for Sutil, the German has been in the rumor mill for quite some time, mainly because of his ties with Renault. Believed to have flirted with the idea of switching teams for 2011, the German now hinted that staying at Force India alone has become an issue and that his aim for the upcoming campaign is to secure his stay at Silverstone.
“The tendency is to (stay at) Force India. We are currently in close talks. I am definitely ready to stay here for another year. The trend is with this team, but it's not signed yet. The final decision won't be made until after the season unfortunately. I would have wanted it sooner, but it didn't happen,” said Sutil in a recent interview with Auto Motor und Sport.
According to Vitantonio Liuzzi and some media, it seems that the Italian has another year of contract with Force India, meaning he's more likely to stay there in 2011. In recent weeks, the prospect of Nick Heidfeld joining the team has appeared in the media, but the German racer hinted that if Sutil stays at Silverstone in 2011, he has no chance of securing the seat.
“If Sutil is staying there, probably I have no chance with Force India,” said Heidfeld in recent days, a few weeks after his place at BMW Sauber-Ferrari for 2011 was secured by GP2 graduate Sergio Perez.
In the meantime, Force India's plans with Paul di Resta are still unclear. While many are suggesting that the Scottish racer is one step inside F1 already, everybody is keeping quiet on this particular topic. Di Resta is currently fighting for his maiden DTM title, where he is trailing teammate Bruno Spengler by 3 points with one round to go.
