ABT Audi A1 Sportback Is Cool

There are some people who want a German-built supermini, but for whom the VW Polo hasn’t got the right mix of luxury and performance. The A1 is not the perfect answer for that, and there’s even a five-door version for people who are into carrying passengers.

Now, there’s even a go-faster version of the A1 Sportback, tuned by the specialists at ABT Sportsline. With some coaxing and caressing, the 1.4-liter TFSI petrol engine has been tweaked from 185 hp to 210 hp, making it a truly hot hatch with a top speed of 240 km/h and a naught to 100 km/h time of 6.6 seconds.

Further down the range, ABT has tuned the base 1.4-liter from 122 hp to 160 hp, and the 1.2-liter model from 86 hp to 110 hp. There’s even a hot diesel, the 2.0 TDI top model that’s been tuned from 143 hp to 170 hp.

Among the cosmetic changes, we’re really big fans of the custom, mid-mounted dual exhaust and the 18-inch DR wheels or the 17 or 18-inch Z Titan ones.
