Built by Ford of Britain, Cortina was the UK’s best-selling car of the 1970s. Those were also the days when the folk rock and psychedelic rock was properly getting into its British shoes. This is why this Mark I Ford Cortina ad fits best showing a beautiful blond model impersonated as a rock star using the classic ride as her daily driver.
It’s not the first time we talk about these people, but we can’t help but admiring the talent they have in building simple, yet convincing auto ads. Portugal-based classic driver dealer Cool&Vintage has once again impressed us with their great taste in putting the right person at the wheel of their items.
Their latest video calls for a bit of rock sensation, as they believe a 1966 Ford Cortina GT has the makings of both a rallying legend and the means of a personal tour bus for aspiring rock stars.
According to the advertorial, the vintage ride in question was restored in 2005 and it is in “fair shape, it runs good and the interiors look fabulous.” Its mileage shows 61,500 miles (99,000 km) which is decent for a two-door coupe from that age.
After all, the classic model is among those who’d hit the track. The Cortina raced in rallies and Lotus did some sportier editions of the Cortina Mark I and Mark II which were marketed as the Ford Cortina Lotus. It's priced at $19,000, which is not that much for a collectable, if you want to see it as such.
