A 2016 Ford Taurus Transformed Into a Pickup Truck is Not a Very Bad Idea

We know the Chinese-oriented Ford Taurus made a debut one month ago during Auto Shanghai 2015 and that mentioning the car again might be old and cold news, but we couldn't just let Theophilus Chin's latest creation pass us by.

I'll have to start on a personal note and say the designers' interpretation of a Ford Taurus ute is a good looking example of a car.

Sure, it will probably never materialize in the real world, but I think we're entitled to some dreaming especially after Mercedes-Benz is preparing a premium pickup, like, for real.

As we slowly get our feet back on Earth, here's why a Ford Taurus truck would never work. First of all, the Taurus is all about space and comfort. This means that inside, passengers receive particular attention, especially if they sit in the backseat.

As you can see, this Ford Taurus ute offers no such thing, and the idea of a hammock installed in that bed is certainly out of the question. Sure, you don't need lavish features when all you do is transport stuff from one farm to another, but that's another story.

However, the 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine Ford planted under the Taurus' hood might fit the utility version like a glove. Its 325+ HP and 475 Nm (lb-ft) of twist should be enough to fulfill any tasks thrown at it successfully. Nonetheless, the real-life Ford Taurus will be produced in China for the Chinese market, so unless they suddenly decide to go into the cattle business, there's no future for a Taurus pickup over there.
