Aside from the 2014 Infiniti Q50 and an across-the-board name change for all models, there has been little news in the way of production vehicles for Infiniti despite the numerous stunning concept vehicles the automaker has released in recent years. Things are still relatively quiet for the 2015 model year, but Automotive News indicates that the luxury brand’s lineup is going to heat up in 2016 and beyond.
For starters, there is talk of a new four-door coupe model – possibly called the Q80 or Q90 – that is expected to ride on a rear-drive Mercedes-Benz platform and compete primarily with the Porsche Panamera. This model could come equipped with a turbo V-6 producing as much as 700 hp.

What’s more, such a performance sedan would be in addition to a production version of the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge prototype. The projected forecast puts this model on track for a launch in 2016 or 2017 with a price starting north of $100,000. That’s quite a bargain for a GT-R-powered sedan, but production could be extremely limited, possibly to just 500 units per year. And this timeline doesn't even mention the production version of the Emerg-E Concept, which was mentioned as recently as last month.

Beyond these all-new models, Infiniti will be launching the new Q30 hatchback and QX30 crossover in 2016, a new Mexican-made model as part of the joint venture with Mercedes-Benz in 2017 and the all-electric LE sedan due around 2017 or 2018. The LE was introduced in 2012 riding on a shared platform with the Nissan Leaf, and it was originally slated to go into production this year.

As far as current models go, Infiniti will be refreshing the large QX80 SUV, QX60 crossover and Q70 sedan next year, and it’s planning a redesign of the QX70 crossover set for late 2016. One of the oldest models in the lineup, the QX50, is apparently getting a second wind from Chinese buyers, and the luxury crossover will get a new stretched-wheelbase model for that market.
