Ever wondered what a Shelby Cobra would look like if it were designed by the Italians? We never did, but that hasn't stopped a company from turning its dream into reality and putting the Puritalia 427 into production.
The new model was unveiled yesterday at a private event in Italy and thanks to youtuber NM2255, we have a couple of videos to show what it looks like in real life. The name of the car is a clever nod to the 427 cubic inches of displaced by the classic 5-liter V8 every Ford guy knows and loves.

This concept first appeared on the map a couple of years ago and has take quite a while to reach the sheetmetal stage. In that time, not that much has changed. Customers can chose between an entry-level 5-liter V8 making 445 hp and a supercharged version with 605 horsepower. We even have a video of that and it's the sort of stuff that may give you supercar wet dreams.

The rest of the powertrain is composed of a 6-speed manual changing cogs with the help of twin-disc hydraulic clutch and a limited slip differential sending power to the wheels via aluminum driveshafts.

The connection to the road is completed by an all-round independent suspension system with adjustable dampers and sway bars, while stopping power comes for Brembo, with six-piston calipers and 15-inch rotors up front ant four-piston grabbers with 13.5-inch rotors at the rear.

It's not bad, this Italian Shelby Cobra, and the best thing of all is that it weighs as little as 1,090 kg (2,403 lbs). That's like an Alfa Romeo 4C with a Ferrari engine in it.
