Sebastien Beliveau, known as RockRiderZ on DeviantArt, is a Canadian photographer who is especially fascinated by all things with four wheels and the anime classic Akira. Out of the 285 images uploaded on his account, his set of full frontal pics of American cars caught our attention the most.
As any proper muscle car connoisseur, Sebastien hasn't lost time photographing cars that embarrassed the U. S. of A.’s long-running love for the personal means of transport. I am referring to atrocities like the Cadillac Cimarron, Ford Pinto, Pontiac Aztek, the Edsel Corsair or the 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass with the 90 horsepower 4.3-liter Supreme Diesel vee-eight.
Beliveau concentrated his point-and-shoot efforts on real gems. In the photo gallery below, we selected what we consider as being Seb’s greatest pictures and trust us, you’ll love the aesthetic bits and bobs and the visual drama of these yesteryear’s brutes.
Though Sebastien also likes to photograph modern muscle like the Dodge Challenger SRT8 392, good ol’ American machines like the original Chevrolet Corvette, 1971 Chevelle, Impala SS and Mustang Mach 1 are to die for. The gearhead’s special feast is further enhanced by rarities such as the 1969 Mercury Cyclone and a customized ‘Vette adorned with a cool frameless windshield. Pure eye candy.
All in all, the adjacent photographs remind me of the ‘60s horsepower wars, when FoMoCo, General Motors and Chrysler were battling it out in true “no replacement for displacement" fashion. If you start thinking about it, Dodge has restarted that era with its 707 HP Challenger SRT Hellcat, so who knows what will follow from Ford and General Motors in the near future.
The S550 Mustang and 2016 Chevrolet Camaro have a lot of potential...
