240 MPH Twin-Turbo Lamborghini Gallardo Becomes World's Fastest 1/2-Mile Car

Another Lamborghini, this time a Gallardo, broke the half-mile record over the weekend, with the Underground Racing-massaged supercar managing to go past 240 mph (386 km/h) over the weekend.

The Gallardo, which was fitted with the aftermarket developer's X Package, hit 240.64 mph at the Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack in Colorado. As for the altitude at which the record was achieved, the location mentioned here sits at 9,500 ft.

Those of you willing to know more about the now-twin-turbo V10 at the center of this Raging Bull should know the Lambo produces north of 2,300 horses.

When such a level of power is involved, means the all-wheel-drive won't keep the supercar from spinning its wheels in the lower gears, so the driver isn't there just for the show.

There's also a story to be told when it comes to the driver

Speaking of which, the owner of this Sant'Agata Bolognese machine became the first private driver to have gone past the 240 mph point. Note that while this is an Underground Racing-prepped machine, we're dealing with a customer car here.

And while many might expect the man, who recommends himself as Gidi, to be a fan of the Lambo camp, we have to mention he's no stranger to the GT-R world, either. We're dealing with the owner of the Alpha G (now you know where the car's name comes from) GT-R.
