Want a fast coupe that's not too small and not too big? Well, the all-new E-Class might have the Goldilocks configuration, and for the first time, we can show you an accurate rendering of the magnificent E63 AMG as well.
Will they make two AMG versions like they do with almost every model these days? It's possible. But the one everybody is hyped up over is the E63 since the recently launched sedan has moved the game on in a big way.
That's the theme of this rendering, a muscular coupe with gaping air intakes feeding a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine. With 4Matic+ installed, it's going to be as fast as a supercar yet still capable of drifting on the track.
The E63 Coupe certainly makes for a lovely rendering, and a quick one as well. Mercedes themselves have revealed the AMG Line body kit, which means that all X-Tomi had to do was to lower the suspension, update the grille and some other minor touches.
While the shape of the car is sporty and I'm sure that the 4.0L twin-turbo will do a great job, there's something offputting here. You see, saying this luxury coupe is as fast as a supercar is one thing, but it will never be as exciting because needs force it to be comfortable, well insulated and fuel efficient.
There are also way too many AMG models and not enough separation. What really sets the C43 wagon apart from the GLC 43? Surely not the capacity to go off-road. To make matters worse, there will also be a 4-door coupe, likely to be called the CLE-CLass, that could steal this away some of the regular coupe customers.
But I digress. The bit I should be telling you about is the E50 Coupe, which will reportedly pack one of those brand new inline-six engines. Thanks to twin turbochargers, the output of 450 horsepower places the BMW M4 well within reach. Between that and the downsizing of the V8s, perhaps we should be looking what Mercedes can do with less from now on.
