It's been a while since we last talked about the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 and yet here we are, bringing you a fresh set of spyshots of the muscle car turned track tool.
A pair of Camaro Z/28 prototypes was spotted in Tazewell, Virginia and we must tip our lens to Shannon for the pics we have here - the test cars were spotted on the Tail of the Dragon, a stretch of road that allows driver to put any aspect of a car's handling to the test.

The two testers pack different aero profiles, though, as one comes with generously-sized rear wing we've seen in the past, while the other has a clean look.

Nevertheless, the rest of the aggressive bits are the same for both cars, with the fins on the side of the front fascia being an example as good as any.

While it was facile for the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 to borrow the supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V8 of the Corvette Z06, things are a bit more complicated when it comes to the heart of the circuit-savvy Z/28.

As we reported back in May, the rumor mill talks about a 7-liter V8 animating the sixth-gen Z/28. And, to be sure the 5.2-liter flat-plane crank VooDoo of the Mustang Shelby GT350 is left behind, the engine would have to deliver at least 550 ponies. The potential engine could be dubbed L88, a name GM has already trademarked.

Then there's the rumor that talks about a new small-block dubbed LT1, with the 6.2-liter unit being a massaged version of the LT1 in the Camaro SS and Corvette Stingray.

Regardless of its motivation, the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, which should arrive next year, will land right in the middle of a Nurbugring battle spread across multiple segment of the go-fast market. And that's what we call perfect timing.
