Introduced in late 2012 to great acclaim from the automotive media, the Golf VII is due for a mid-cycle facelift. According to a recent report, the 2017 VW Golf VII facelift will look something like this. It's typically Volkswagen, as in it won't make jaws drop.
Our friends over at Autoblog don’t mention where did they get these five photographs from, save for “Thanks to Jille for the pictures.” Given the circumstances, this could be the real deal or it could be just the run-of-the-mill Photoshop wizardry. The pixelated quality of the pics and the inconsistent shadow effect are other tell-tale signs this could be a ruse.

But anyway, let’s just pretend it is the real deal. A question has to be posed: what does it bring new to the Golf? In the case of the GTI hot hatchback, the shape of the headlamps remains virtually unchanged, while the headlight graphics appear to be mildly different. A lil’ further down, the front fascia incorporates much more aggressive air intakes.

In the case of the Volkswagen Golf VII facelift five-door hatchback and Variant station wagon, the difference in headlight graphics is easier to notice than between the facelifted GTI and the pre-refresh GTI. Around the rear, I’m able to spot not one, but two trapezoidal exhaust outlets at the extremities of the rear bumper, a similar design to the Passat B8.

While the peeps at Autoblog.nl haven’t managed to source interior shots of the refreshed Golf VII, it’s been known for a long time that the facelift will bring a digital instrument cluster similar to that in the Audi TT, A3, A4, A5, Q7, and R8, as well as the Volkswagen Passat and Tiguan. On top of that, gesture control technology is also in the offing. Do take a peek at the Golf R Touch Concept’s interior to find out more about that.
