2017 Suzuki Swift Leaked With No Camo Whatsoever, Has Jaguar and Maserati Cues

The third-generation Suzuki Swift certainly shows its age. 6 years old and counting, the Swift needs a replacement. Many spy pics and renderings later, the all-new model finally shows up.

It’s Ferd, Facebook’s automotive tipster, we have to thank for the first-ever photograph of the 2017 Suzuki Swift void of camouflage. Sure it’s grainy, but think of this leak as an advance Christmas present for those who are in the market for a Swift. Likely a mid-range trim level due to the fog lights and alloys, the pictured subcompact hatch is much sexier than its predecessor.

Take a little time and observe the front fascia’s details. The grille's shape and location of the Suzuki badge, for example, ooze Jaguar I-Pace through every pore. The bumper, meanwhile, appears to be inspired by that of the Maserati GranTurismo Sport. As for the headlights, we notice that the daytime running lights are LEDs. Spy pics suggest the taillights are also enhanced by LEDs.

Marginally longer and wider than the current Swift, the all-new model is gifted with a thoroughly modern interior for a vehicle in this segment. A flat-bottom steering wheel is on the menu, as is a TFT color screen for the trip computer. Renderings of the interior suggest a touchscreen-based infotainment system will be available on the uppermost grades, as will automatic climate control.

Other than a turbocharged Sport model with a projected 140 PS from a 1.4-liter engine, there’s another imporant variant of the 2017 Suzuki Swift in the pipeline. Borrowing the SHVS system from the Baleno and Ignis, the Swift will also be offered with a mild hybrid powertrain. Thanks to an integrated starter generator, the SHVS system will assist the engine in various driving scenarios.

On that note, it’s definitely worth mentioning that a pre-production mule was spied with a differential integrated into the rear axle. Bearing in mind the newly-developed platform for the Baleno and Ignis can be equipped with all-wheel-drive in the latter model’s case, there's a possibility that Suzuki will bestow AllGrip on select versions of the fourth-generation Swift.
