2017 Renault Koleos (QM6) Launched in Korea with 2.0 dCi Engine and CVT

Renault Samsung has just released pricing information about the all-new QM6 SUV model in Korea. This is the same vehicle as the European Koleos, and even though we know some of the features won't be the same, most of them will.

Right off the bat, let us mention that the most interesting fact we've managed to comprehend (from the video below) is that a 2.0 dCi engine is the standard one fitted to all versions of this car.

We think that will also be found under the hood of the European Koleos, even though all modern Renaults now get 1.6-liter turbodiesels. A 1.6-liter is not flexible enough for such a large vehicle, and going with a smaller engine doesn't necessarily help lower emissions.

Korea doesn't usually get any new engines on regular Renaults other than the 2-liter natural gas unit. So the EU-spec Koleos will also have the 2.0 dCI, but we don't have any specific power output numbers. However, it's safe to say that the minimum is 170 PS and 380 Nm of torque.

The Korean model is fitted with a CVT gearbox, which is totally predictable when you consider the QM6 is made on the same line as the Nissan Rogue. However, a twin-clutch gearbox could arrive later on.

While the letters in the video are gibberish to us, we can draw a parallel between the QM5 and QM6. One model will replace the other as the new Koleos in Europe, but they will be sold alongside in Korea. The larger of the two measures 4673×1843×1678mm while, the older crossover is noticeably smaller at 4525×1855×1695mm.

Another thing we need to pay attention to is the price difference. According to the data, a basic 2-wheel drive 2017 Koleos costs 27 million won. Meanwhile, the cheapest QM5, which is the old Koleos, costs 22.8 million. So there's a huge gap between the, but we don't know how that will translate into euros.
