2017 Porsche 911 GT3 Facelift Screams at 8,000 RPM during Blitz Nurburgring Lap

The 991.2 mid-cycle boost might have determined most of the 911 line-up to move into turbo land, but the facelifted models that will stick to natural aspiration aren't going to be ashamed of it.

Heck, as the 2017 Porsche 911 GT3 test car in the piece of footage at the bottom of the page shows, the atmospheric Neunelfers are ready to scream at the top of their flat-six lungs.

The GT division animal has been a constant presence on the Nurburgring this season (here's a previous spy adventure involving the supercar), but the pace of the testing has been dialed up to hell-is-my-home level, as you can see in this clip.

The soundtrack delivered by the boxer engine is downright brutal, with the high-revving heart of the GT3 filling the woods around the Nordschleife as the Zuffenhausen beast sprints on the track.

The pre-revamp GT3's 3.8-liter boxer unit could rev up to 9,000 rpm, but with the rumor mill talking about the 991.2 model following the 991.1 GT3 RS and 911 R down the 500 hp path, the upcoming Porscha might loose some 250 rpm at the top end.

OK, but what about the gearbox?

Speaking of info that hasn't been officially confirmed yet, we all expect the fresh GT3 to come with the 911 R's six-speed manual as an option - you don't even have to take our word for it, as the 991.2 GT3 has been spied with a stick adorning its center console.

Even so, the rear-engined coupe we see here is the PDK type, as indicated by the aural effect of the blisteringly-quick shifts.

P.S.: If you're wondering how close to its final form the 2017 GT3 is, just check out the 991.2 taillights and you'll understand this track-savvy 911 is just around the corner. And until the velocity god arrives, we're inviting you to turn the volum up and enjoy its badass voice.
