UPDATE: 2017 Nissan GT-R Is the Final Model Year for the R35 Generation

Godzilla is dead, long live Godzilla! Before it makes its world debut in New York tomorrow, a Japanese magazine and a Photoshop wizard have accurately rendered the 2017 Nissan GT-R, the ultimate model year for the R35 generation. These renderings are close enough to the real deal for GT-R fans to determine if the refreshed design of the most capable supercar made in Japan deserves a thumbs up.

The 2017 Nissan GT-R has been spied numerous times already and the big news is that the front fascia has changed into something aggressive, more taut, and more focused than the 2016 model year has to offer, even in Nismo form. My favorite details are the highlights of the facelifted GT-R. More specifically, the LFA-inspired trapezoidal meshed openings and the manufacturer's signature V-Motion front grille.

As you can tell from the renderings and the attached spy photographs, those trapezoidal openings are integrated into each side of the front bumper and each of them houses a strip of daytime running lights. Overall, it’s a welcomed change in my book. The in-your-face front spoiler lip also ups the visual ante.

Around the rear, the 2017 Nissan GT-R boasts a two-piece black plastic diffuser that is larger lengthwise than the one adorning the 2016 model year. Furthermore, it’s plain to see that we’re also dealing with reshaped side vents integrated into the sides of the rear diffuser and redesigned exhaust cutouts.

In terms of get-up-and-go, it’s everybody’s guess how much savagery the twin-turbo V6 engine is packing for the 2017 model year. I’m betting on a Nismo-rivaling 600 horsepower. As far as the cabin is concerned, the rendering featured in the gallery is far off from the real deal, a work of imagination that comes from an overzealous Photoshop aficionado.

More information and the official press photos of the 2017 Nissan GT-R will be released tomorrow. As for the R36 generation of the GT-R, it is most likely that it will land no later than early 2018.
