In later years, Mercedes-Benz has managed to come up with gorgeous looking cars. With a few exceptions (yes, GLE Coupe, we're looking at you), all models launched after the new A-Class was introduced were a visual success.
However, together with this newly-found brand identity came something that Audi had been already suffering from for a few good years: the so-called carbon copy technique. Some of the models released by Mercedes-Benz do look like they took full advantage of the "hold down the Shift key to preserve proportions while we scale it" technique.

Spot a C-Class from a distance and if there are no other cars around as a reference, you'll have a hard time telling it apart from an S-Class at a glance.

It's the same with the interior. Here, it wasn't the A-Class that set the tone but the S-Class limousine. The new C-Class copied it as best as it could and now the E-Class has slotted firmly in between. Telling them apart here is a lot more simpler, but it's still a case of "spot the difference," as the overall look is very similar.

If the different classes have similar designs, then what is to be expected of the various models inside one class? The new E-Class has only got the sedan up and running, but the station wagon is close to being launched, as is the Coupe. Eventually, it will also get a Cabrio version, not to mention AMG models for all of them. So what about their interiors?

Well, apart from the obvious differences dictated by the number of doors and seats, there's always the dashboard. Usually one of the last bits of a car we get to see, our spy photographers managed to get a very good glimpse at the E-Class Coupe's interior, and we can already identify a few modifications. And when we say "a few," we can't stress it enough.

For one thing, the air vents look more aggressive as if there were four sinkholes opening up in the dashboard ready to suck all the air inside. They kind of remind of Dune's sandworms, but maybe that's just me reading Frank Herbert's book one too many times. Anyway, all in all, we'd say it's a positive change, and move on to the next new bit. Oh, wait...

Yeah, that's about it. The only other difference we could find was the absence of the analog clock just below the aircon controls, replaced here with the hazard lights button. Well, since reading an analog clock takes longer than it's safe to have your eyes off the road, we can't say we'll miss that bit either.

To sum it up, the E-Class Coupe's dashboard looks positively similar to the sedan model, but with a very discreet sporty touch. And we wouldn't be too surprised if that's exactly what the brief the designers got sounded like.
