2017 Maserati Levante Spied with Less Disguise

Maserati engineers are hard at work testing the Levante SUV, set to launch as a 2017 model. However, they need to stop from time to time, so our spy photographers managed to snap a few shots of the prototype from close range.

Unlike previous prototypes of the Levante, the vehicle shown in the photo gallery is only covered with a thin layer of camouflage. Thanks to this, the roof line and part of the window line is revealed. Although the Levante prototype in the images attached to this article tries to hide its shapes, it is easy to spot some design lines of the vehicle.

The front end of the Levante will have a rather unique look in the segment. The car has a prominent front grille with a set of aggressive front lights. The hood also has an attractive profile, and its shape is rounded off where it meets the grille. This makes the car look different from other SUVs on the market, but we must wonder if different will be enough to sell the 2017 Maserati Levante in big numbers.

The profile and rear of the prototype are not as aggressive as the front end, but they do not look dull either. The production tail lights are partially revealed on this prototype, which also appears to feature the series headlights.

Unfortunately, our spy photographers have not managed to get close enough to the vehicle to provide us with new interior images. However, as most prototypes go, the interior would have been covered up and filled with specialist equipment that won’t be found on the production model.

We do expect the Levante to feature an interior similar to the one on the Ghibli and the Quattroporte, as previous spy shots revealed. The dash will have a shape inspired by both Maserati sedans, while the center console will have a different look.
