Early next week, Lincoln will show China what its version of American luxury looks like with the 2017 Continental Presidential. The model expected to be shown on Apil 25 at the Beijing Auto Show has been captured in several spy photos by local website Autohome.
We can't seem to find any major differences between this and the 2017 Continental that just went on sale in America, after being presented during January's Detroit Auto Show. Minor tweaks have been made to the headlights, but the wheelbase remains the same. The interior uses a different color combination, but that's just how this press vehicle has been optioned out.

The badging on the back says this Continental has been equipped with a 3-liter turbocharged V6 engine and AWD. In America, those features are reserved for the highest trim level that can compete with the BMW 7 Series and Audi A8 regarding price. Mind you, with 400 horsepower, it's not slow either.

This is a unique car for Lincoln. The Continental has a legacy of real American luxury and bold design. The company calls this a "great example of quiet luxury" and it should sell well in China, where understated design is very attractive in a limo. You may also notice that the door handles are hidden inside the chrome line right under the winding-down windows.

Even though the car is about the size of an A8, it may compete against the A6 regarding price. But that's only in America. Because the Continental will not be manufactured in China, it will be considerably more expensive. The car is expected to start at around $150,000, which is about triple what it does in the US. However, 30-way adjustable seats and a sound system with 19 speaks will be offered for free.

It certainly has something different to all its competitors. Yet we wonder who is going to choose this over a similarly priced Porsche Panamera or a cheap Buick.
