The all-new Kia Rio has made its online debut and is waltzing its way into the Paris Motor Show. However, the all-important sedan version is nowhere to be seen.
A rendering of the 2017 Kia Rio sedan isn't going to solve anything, especially when the 2017 model year is actually that old car (in America). Guess we should call this a 2018 model year then.

Anyway, Kia is doing everything it can to keep up with the Germans in the subcompact struggle. Like almost everybody, it has come to the conclusion that small is not beautiful. So the all-new hatchback is about the same size as the Golf 4 in the 2000s.

The compact-sized subcompact will also have a sedan model. We can guarantee it! But first, the rendering. It's made for Indian Autos Blog by a local artist called SRK. He did a geat job with this sedan that might have passed for a Volkswagen Bora rival over a decade ago. It's very long and sleek, but then the new Rio is designed to have minimal overhangs, so that's pretty normal.

While the 2017 Rio hatch has been seen all around Germany and Southern Europe this summer, the sedan was never spotted. Thanks to our Indian friends, we've been able to find some spy photos dating back to July which proves the Rio 4-door is being developed in South Korea.

In Korea, the model is known as the "Kia Pride" and currently offers a 108 PS 1.4-liter and a 1.6-liter pushing 140 PS. At least one of those will be replaced, as the all-new engine range consists of two turbo diesels (1.4 liters with 70 or 90 PS) and four gasoline units, namely two 1.0 turbos with 100 or 120 PS, the 1.25-liter MPI with 84 PS, 1.4-liter MPI with 100 PS).

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
