2017 Jeep Compass Poses For the Camera In All Trim Levels

Earlier this week, Jeep couldn’t be bothered to share as many pictures of the 2017 Jeep Compass as we’d like. Now, though, the Brazilian arm of Fiat Chrysler has made up for it with pics that depict every trim level available for the Brazil-spec Compass.

In sequential order, from start to end of photo gallery, we have the Sport (red), Longitude (blue), Limited (white), and the off-road ready Trailhawk (silver and red, adorned with black hood decal). As per FCA Brazil, the Sport, Longitude, and Limited will be initially available in front-wheel-drive form. For those customers who really need 4x4, the Longitude is available with such a system, while the Trailhawk comes as standard with four-wheel-drive.

In the case of the 2017 Jeep Compass Trailhawk, the compact-sized sport utility vehicle sits 0.8 inches (20 mm) higher off the ground than other models. The black hood decal, unique alloy wheels, and additional underbody protection are on the menu too, as is a 4x4 system with Active Drive Low mode and a familiar-looking Selec-Terrain dial with 4WD LOCK function.

Measuring 173.6 in (4,410 mm) in length, 71.7 in (1,820 mm) in width, and 103.5 in (2,630 mm) in terms of wheelbase, the 2017 Jeep Compass is worthy of its classification as a compact SUV. Underpinned by a modified version of the platform used by the Renegade, the all-new Jeep Compass will go on sale in Brazil with a choice of two engines: 2.0-liter Tigershark with 166 horsepower and compatible with E85 fuel, as well as a 2.0-liter Multijet diesel unit with 170 horsepower. For the gasoline-chugging engine, a six-speed automatic will have to suffice. In the case of the oil-burning powerhouse, the Compass levels up to a ZF-developed 9-speed automatic transmission.

For the U.S.-spec version of the 2017 Jeep Compass, we’ll have to wait until Fiat Chrysler debuts the new kid on the block at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show. Chances are the North American model will be available with the 2.4-liter Tigershark that’s been around since 2007, as well as a high-performance 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine internally referred to as the Hurricane.
