2017 Husqvarna Motocross and Enduro Models Recalled Over Braking Issue

Husqvarna’s 2017 Enduro and Motocross range is available to buy starting this October. However, it appears that some of them are affected by a problem within the front brake system.

The issue is not Husqvarna’s fault, as the affected part comes from Brembo and was fitted to the TC, FC, TX, TE and FE 2017 only models. Not every unit is affected so it’s best to take yours to the dealership to be verified to know for sure.

According to the official release, “following market investigations by Husqvarna it has been determined that anomalies in the manufacturing process have resulted, with certain batches, in hand brake cylinders with defective machining from the supplier. This can lead to early wear of the sealing cup in the hand brake cylinder, thus leading to impaired braking performance. As the anomalies are restricted to specific batches, the hand brake cylinder must be checked and the affected batches replaced.”

Owners of the affected bikes will be notified via letter, but to know for sure before that comes in you mailbox, you can check with the dealership you bought yours from. Or, you can also check the ‘Service’ area of the Husqvarna Motorcycle’s website to see if your model is plagued by the defective machined pieces.

These machines seem pretty simple and are made for rough terrain anyway, so you might be tempted to replace the reservoir by yourself to avoid the hassle of transporting the bike to the dealership. But you will void your warranty as a result. Having it brought to an official dealership, mechanics will inspect the brake system and replace inadequate/damaged parts free of cost.

Plus, if you get something wrong and discover you’re not able to brake downhill and crash, you won’t have anyone to blame for but your own stubbornness.
