The 10th generation Civic is coming to Europe as a 2017 model and will also adopt the turbocharged technology seen on the US market models. You guys already know about the 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo, since it's available on the 2016 sedan. But there's also going to be a smaller 1-liter VTEC Turbo.
Is two not enough? Don't worry, because a third turbo, the 2-liter used by the new Civic Type R, will carry over.

An all-new generation of Civic hatchback will "arrive in Europe in early 2017 after being announced at Frankfurt Motor Show in September," Honda revealed today. Somehow, that doesn't make sense. The next Frankfurt Motor Show is in September 2017, so how can a launch in early 2017 come after it? Regardless, the new EU-spec Civic can't be more than 18 months away from completion.

The 5-door will continue to be made in Swindon, Honda UK's big factory that supplies cars for the European market.

We've already seen several prototypes, including one for the Civic Type R. They all have components and styling elements from the American sedan model, indicating that the Civic will gain a global identity, like its Ford Focus rival.

The 1.5-liter turbo may not be exactly the same as the one used by the US-spec car. That's because it features Dual Variable Valve Timing Control (VTC), but not Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC). They could just be using the "VTEC" badge as a marketing tool, since a turbocharged engine doesn't really need this technology. Both the 1.0 and the 1.5 will receive a new type of turbocharger with a low moment of inertia and high responsiveness.

The new mills will have several other jobs besides moving the Civic. Honda's 1.5-liter turbo is already available in Japan on several models, including the Jade RS hatchback and the StepWGN… wagon. In both cases, it produces 150 PS at 5,500 rpm and 203 Nm (150 Nm) of torque between 1,600 and 5,000 rpm. Because America is drunk on power, the 2016 Civic sedan is gutsier, delivering 174 hp and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft).
