After the Canyon and light-duty Sierra, GMC launched the third model in the All Terrain X series in the form of an evil-looking Sierra 2500HD. For all intents and purposes, the 2017 GMC Sierra 2500HD All Terrain X is a direct rival to the Ram Power Wagon.
Based on the GMC Sierra 2500HD, the All Terrain X package adds plenty of bits and bobs to match its sinister looks. But first, let’s talk about what’s hiding under the hood. If the standard 6.0-liter V8 doesn’t cut it, customers can opt for the L5P Duramax, a 6.6-liter V8 turbo diesel with 445 hp and a brawny 910 lb-ft (1,234 Nm) of torque available from low in the rev range.

Exclusively available as a Crew Cab with four-wheel-drive, the All Terrain X will go on sale at GMC dealers in the United States of America this fall. “The new Sierra HD All Terrain X’s powerful attitude reflects a popular trend in very capable off-road trucks, executed with a range-topping level of refinement — a combination of attributes GMC has cultivated for years,” said Duncan Aldred, the manufacturer's vice president of sales and marketing.

On the visual front, the All Terrain X package overhauls the exterior with darker than black overalls. If Black Onyx isn’t to your liking, there’s also Summit White. Standard goodies also include 18-inch black aluminum wheels wrapped in LT 275/65 R18 Goodyear Duratrac MT-rated tires with a tread pattern designed for off-road duty, body-color grille surround, door handles, bodyside moldings, belt moldings, and front bumper skid plate.

Even the 4-inch side steps of this big boy pickup truck are painted black, as is the black sport bar in the bed designed to support optional off-road driving lamps. Additional standard equipment worth mentioning is the off-road suspension from tried-and-tested the Z71, an underbody shield for off-road junkies, an Eaton locking rear differential, as well as creature comforts such as front/rear park assist, a spray-on bedliner, and a heated steering wheel.

If it were your money, would you spend them green dollar bills on this, the 2017 Ram Power Wagon, or the light-duty 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor?
