Fiat’s third-generation Panda is set to receive a mid-cycle facelift.
The Italian city car is being tested in prototype form on its local streets, and our spy photographers were there to immortalize the moment. The facelift brought to the Panda range is the mid-cycle refresh for the Panda and will expand this generation’s career by three or four years.

Fiat has thoroughly covered its prototype in camouflage, making us believe this is an early prototype. However, the Italian carmaker has had the Panda on the market for a few years now, and an improvement in the range is long overdue. So, the car you see in the photo gallery of this article is just a well-camouflaged model that’s closer to production than we are led to believe.

The Fiat Panda shares its platform with the 500, and we expect the improvements brought to the latter to come to the Panda as well. Unlike the Panda, the Fiat 500’s facelift did not bring massive changes to the model’s exterior, but it did transform the interior of the car.

Along with interior design changes, the Italian model got a significant improvement in the tech and multimedia departments. The Fiat 500 is available with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’s Uconnect multimedia system with a five-inch screen. The same system is also available for order with a seven-inch display.

We expect the Panda facelift to get an updated interior with more tech features. Furthermore, the standard equipment list could be longer. Since the Fiat 500’s engines were not drastically improved, we reckon the Panda won’t receive more than an update for its power plants.

On related news, we must note that Fiat has announced its intentions to separate the Panda and 500 ranges. While the latter will be more orientated to a lifestyle approach, the Panda will remain an affordable and practical model. We expect the facelift of the Panda range to change the car in an appropriate manner.
