Chevrolet has revealed pricing information for the 2017 Corvette Grand Sport, a track-oriented version of the iconic American model.
The 2017 Corvette Grand Sport Coupe starts at $66,445, while the Convertible is at least $70,445. When compared to the regular Corvette, the Grand Sport variants are a little over $10,000 more expensive than the former.
Pricing includes destination charge, but without tax and other dealer fees. For those who desire a Corvette that's even more special, GM will roll out a “Collector Edition” Grand Sport Corvette, which is expected to be more expensive.
Corvette's Grand Sport version is easy to spot thanks to specific exterior elements, like front fender inserts, a Z06-style grille, wider fenders, and enlarged rear quarter panels.
The track has been increased as well. Clients can also order the Heritage package, which features hash-mark fender graphics, full-length stripes, optional carbon-fiber ground effects, and more.
In case you are unfamiliar with the Corvette range, the Grand Sport is an enhanced version based on the Z06 variant. The powerplant is an LT1 V8, which provides 460 HP and 465 lb-ft, thanks to the optional performance exhaust system included as standard.
Customers can choose between a seven-speed manual transmission with active rev matching technology, or an eight-speed automatic unit with paddle-operated shifter mechanism. Naturally, the latter received an individual adjustment for the Grand Sport version of the Corvette.
Also, standard on the 2017 Corvette Grand Sport is the magnetic ride control system, as well as Brembo brakes. The pair is helped do the best job possible by a set of revised stabilizer bars, new springs, and an electronically controlled limited-slip differential. Chevrolet engineers have also fine-tuned the chassis and cooling systems of the Corvette Grand Sport to suit it for the track.
If customers desire even more performance out of this model, they can opt for the Z07 package, which brings a carbon-ceramic matrix braking system and Michelin Pilot Sport 2 Cup tires instead of the standard Pilot Super Sport Michelins. Before the addition of the Z07 package, Chevrolet estimates that the Corvette Grand Sport is capable of 1.05g in corners, but the former enhances that up to 1.2g.
General Motors has not announced the official performance figures, but they disclosed a 0-60 MPH (96 km/h) acceleration time of 3.6 seconds for the new Corvette Grand Sport with the eight-speed automatic transmission. For drag racing enthusiasts, the quarter-mile time is 11.8 seconds at 118 MPH with the Z07 performance package.
