After it had shown the all-new C3 at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, Citroen is looking toward the future with the similarly all-new C3 Picasso. Although it is still a work-in-progress business, the next-generation Citroen C3 Picasso will be worth the wait.
From the latest and clearest spy shots of the 2017 Citroen C3 Picasso, we’re able to see that the French manufacturer will steer away from the 2017 Opel Meriva C. As explained in an earlier report on the German interloper, the third-gen Meriva and second-gen C3 Picasso will share their platform. Thankfully, though, the design will make the difference between it and the Meriva C.

In the C3 Picasso’s case, the French manufacturer went forward with a crossover-inspired stance. Complete with weird visual quirks, the 2018 Citroen C3 Picasso boasts LED daytime running lights, halogen clusters underneath those, and a front grille adorned with the same mesh pattern as the regular C3. From the side, it’s easy to notice that the front three-quarter windows and the air-filled Airbumps were also borrowed from the C3.

The ground clearance and roofline are tell-tale signs the C3 Picasso is a more practical affair than its subcompact sibling. Due to camo blankets hiding pretty much the entire dashboard, it’s hard to tell what the C3 Picasso has in store for us regarding interior design. Be that as it may, it’s a given that a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system is in the cards for the new kid on the block, complete with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and MirrorLink.

There are no concrete details about what’s hiding in the engine bay, though. Based on the hearsay spread around the campfire, Citroen won’t use General Motors mills from the 2017 Opel Meriva C. Instead, it’ll settle for BlueHDi and PureTech powerplants from the existing roster of Citroen models.

To be manufactured at a plant located in Zaragoza, Spain, production of the all-new Citroen C3 Picasso is slated to begin in the first half of 2017.
