Accounting for the $940 destination and handling, the 2016 Acura MDX costs $43,955. The 2017 model year of the mid-size luxury crossover, on the other hand, is $5 cheaper and it’s way, way prettier.
Slated to go on sale across the United States of America tomorrow, the 2017 Acura MDX is much more than meets the eye. For $43,950, the base model gets goodies that include Automatic Brake Hold, auto high beam headlights, four 2.5-amp USB charging ports, Sirius XM Radio 2.0, and a suite of driver-assistive and safety tech that was christened AcuraWatch.
Opt for the Technology and Advance packages and Acura will gladly equip the redesigned MDX with Bi-Directional Keyless Remote Engine Start, 20-inch wheels and tires, power folding side mirrors, as well as HD Traffic. The Advance trim level, however, is better because it adds useful and desirable stuff such as LED fog lights, a 360-degree camera system, genuine wood trim, and a heated steering wheel.
Pricing for the Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) is not yet available because the range-topping model will be launching later this year. Still, I can tell you that the 2017 Acura MDX is both potent and frugal thanks to a tried-and-tested 3.5-liter i-VTEC naturally aspirated V6 engine.
Rated at 290 horsepower and 267 lb-ft (362 Nm) of torque, the naturally aspirated mill can return up to 23 miles per gallon (10.22 l/100 km) combined in FWD format. In Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) configuration, by comparison, the engine is rated 22 miles per gallon (10.69 l/100 km) combined.
"We're raising the Acura MDX's game for 2017 with premium new features and technologies that luxury SUV buyers want, complemented by bold, new styling we know they're going to love," said Jon Ikeda, vice president and general manager of Acura. "Backed by its high-performance credentials, the 2017 MDX has advanced its competitiveness and will continue its legacy of leadership as the best-selling three-row luxury SUV in America.”
