We've not seen any test prototypes yet, but some auto magazines are reporting that a facelift for the VW Golf will be launched in 2016. Maybe they're right, or maybe they're wrong, but we wouldn't be doing our jobs right if we didn't show you these renderings.
They were created by Remco M and show the potential for change with the current Mk7 hatch and hot hatch. Obviously, the add-ons are inspired by the latest VW products. For example, the blue Golf has Passat-like headlights and other features from the Touran MPV.

We like how they changed the design of the LED headlights. As for the Golf GTI, that seems to be based on the Vision GTE concept and the Clubsport model. A bit of carbon fiber is there for added visual drama.

We're not so sure that Volkswagen will offer a facelift next year, since big boss Winterkorn wants all-new models to come out every five years, far faster than the segment. That means the Golf 8 will come in 2017 or so.

However, both the Audi A3 and the SEAT Leon, which are sisters of the Golf, will have refreshes in 2016. We know that the new A3 will launch at the Geneva Motor Show with a 1.8 TFSI equipped with cylinder deactivation. The Leon facelift was seen for the first time a few days ago.

Rumor has it that Volkswagen's recently established electronics division will have a larger screen with gesture controls available soon. BMW will be the first to offer such a feature on the 7 Series, so it will be interesting to see how cheaply the people from Wolfsburg will be able to take their version.
